I am a new user to Yelp, inspired to write reviews due to the recent influx of mediocre meals that have been popping up in numerous "good" restaurants that have been recommended to me. Decided to try this instead of going next door to Little Caesar's, and was very disappointed. Everyone in there had a total bill of over $20, even for just two sandwiches. I had the tuna. Big mistake- I don't think they used any mayo at all. It was the worst, most cheap and dry tuna I've ever had. Honestly I would've preferred to eat cat food. Even that looked and smelled more appetizing. However, they are known for their corned beef, which my husband got, and he said it was excellent. Also had a side of their fries and they were amazing. Only go to this place for the latter two foods mentioned.

So, I heard good things about this place and decided to give it a try the other day. I walked in and looked at there rather extensive menu and realized I was gonna have to fork over some cash in order to even try this place. The least expensive sandwich was around $8 bucks and that really just consisted of meat and cheese. The average sandwich alone was around $12 and it was between $3-$4 to make a combo. I did a small sandwich combo and paid a little over $13 dollars for a sandwich fries and a pop. Overall taste: the sandwich was good but not really worth the price when I can get more and better food at Penn Station for less money. They had what appeared to be homemade pickles which were a big let down and the fries which were fresh cooked were noticeably not hand cut but still quite tasty. Overall this was not a bad experience but not one I will partake of any time soon. To the tune of $13-$14 I could get more bang for my buck elsewhere.

I grew up on the original Bread Basket at Lincoln/Greenfield and am otherwise no stranger to what a good deli should be. Once upon a time that original location was a 5-star deli. Ever since a change of ownership some years back and a subsequent change in quality of ingredients, that location became a 4-star deli. The quality of food/service at the franchised/satellite locations vary between 2.5 stars and 3.5 stars. This new location on Dequindre is no different. Which is to say it's honestly a pretty decent deli (especially for a chain) but it's certainly nothing life-changing. I am happy this place opened up as it's less than two miles from where I work and the business that used to be at this address ($5 Crunch) totally sucked. So this is a huge upgrade. I've been in here a couple of times since they opened and the service has been fast and the food good (not great); typical "Chain Basket" fare. Try their Pastrami. You'll be glad you did. And don't hesitate to ask them to grill your sandwich. A grilled turkey reuben on rye is a recipe for happiness, any way you slice it. The menu also has some cool more modern additions such as Reuben Fries, Fried Pickles, and Sliders. Interesting atypical choices for a deli and I plan on trying them out.

Extremely rude cashier. I don't care if your food is good, if you have terrible customer service I'm not contributing to your business. This woman was drinking pop in the food prep area in plain sight on top of being rude. No thanks.

It's hard to compete with NY Deli's, but I wouldn't count bread basket out. It's the best we have for the Midwest, that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. I work near this particular establishment and decided to pop in to taste their wares... I wasn't disappointed. What I love about bread basket is most of their restaurants are consistent. The only issue I had (not their fault) was I had to go to work 30mins after eating. AUGGHH!!! I'm getting the itis. It's definitely worth checking out if you've never had bread basket.

If you like paying for a "salad" that literally has nothing in it except lettuce and chicken then go here...8 dollars and not even good and so small!! Not worth it at all..very expensive sandwiches too

I love this place. I have a different kind of sandwich I always order, and they get it right every time. The staff is always nice and personable. Meat always juicy and tender. This is the best corn beef place I have been to in years, and I have tried others as well as other bread baskets. Can't touch this location

Very disappointed. I am a huge fan of the original Bread Basket deli on Greenfield Rd. The corned beef at the Dequindre location was very dry, and the onion roll was cold as if it was coming out of a refrigerator. I would order my sandwich grilled if I ever go back.

As well as growing up on the original bread basket... I have great respect for an evolving company. They still off great food and service. Their sandwiches are delicious if you enjoy a good deli sandwich. If you are looking for a salad, then perhaps they are average - after all, they are named "bread basket deli". This deli is really trying to be the best of the best and their lunch meat... warm tender.. Please do no visit here if you are the calorie / lean person concerned about your cholesterol!
